President Joe Biden recently claimed that the Democrats’ $3.5 spending bill would cost zero dollars.

“My Build Back Better Agenda costs zero dollars,” Biden wrote on Twitter. “Instead of wasting money on tax breaks, loopholes, and tax evasion for big corporations and the wealthy, we can make a once-in-a-generation investment in working America. And it adds zero dollars to the national debt.”

Democrats argue that tax increases will offset the trillions of dollars of spending authorized by the bill. But this does not reduce the cost of the bill. It will still cost $3.5 trillion regardless of where the money comes from. Nevertheless, in Biden’s America $3.5 trillion is equal to zero.
