Fox News Poll: Just 13% Say Trump Admin Has Been Transparent on Epstein Case

A new Fox News poll reveals that only 13% of voters believe the Trump administration has been open and transparent in its handling of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation—a strikingly low number that underscores growing public skepticism.

The poll, released Wednesday evening, shows even among Republicans, trust is limited. While GOP voters were more likely than Democrats to give the administration the benefit of the doubt, 60% of Republicans still said they do notbelieve the White House has been transparent about the so-called “Epstein files.”

Among other voter groups, the skepticism runs even deeper. 74% of Democrats and 64% of independents said the administration has not been forthright in its handling of the high-profile case.

Epstein, once a fixture among political and business elites, died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. He had previously been associated with President Trump, though the two reportedly fell out years before his death.

Earlier this month, the Department of Justice and the FBI officially closed the case, declaring there was no “client list” linking Epstein’s crimes to others—a conclusion that has done little to quiet demands for more transparency.

On Capitol Hill, momentum to declassify more documents has hit a wall. The House left for August recess without acting on several Democratic-led efforts to force the release of additional case files.

“There’s no purpose for the Congress to push an administration to do something they’re already doing,” said House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) during a press conference Wednesday. He added that if the administration doesn’t take further action, lawmakers will consider next steps when they return in the fall.

Still, pressure continues to build as both lawmakers and the public demand answers. The Epstein case has become a political flashpoint, especially as Trump’s critics argue that the administration is shielding damaging information.

The survey also found that 19% of voters admitted they hadn’t been closely following the Epstein story—including about a quarter of independents.

Fox News polled 1,000 registered voters nationwide from July 18–21. The poll carries a margin of error of ±3 percentage points.
