The Holliday season covers more than Christmas. There is Hanukah and New Years as well that makes up the Holiday season.
Yes, that is why people say “Happy Thanksgiving”,”Happy Hanukah”, Happy New Year ” each holiday has a special greeting. “Happy Holidays” seems a cop out to not wanting to issue a special greeting to those celebrating the specific holiday. Even if someone does not celebrate the specific holiday, it should be recognized to those who do celebrate using the specific greeting, in my opinion.
If you don’t want to say Merry Christmas, that’s your choice. Just don’t force your ways on those that want to. However, as far as I’m concerned. You can just move to a communist country that doesn’t celebrate Christmas. It won’t hurt my feelings one bit.
