President Trump’s trust and honesty ratings have dropped to their lowest point since he began his second term, according to a new Economist/YouGov poll.
Just 31 percent of respondents described Trump as “trustworthy” or “honest,” down from 33 percent in March. Meanwhile, 53 percent labeled him “not honest and trustworthy,” a slight improvement from the 55 percent high in July, while 16 percent said they weren’t sure.
The same survey found Trump’s overall favorability at 44 percent, with 52 percent holding an unfavorable view. Decision Desk HQ’s polling index places his job approval at 44.4 percent and disapproval at 51.7 percent.
The decline in his honesty numbers comes amid controversies surrounding the Trump administration, including its handling of files connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and the president’s recent firing of the Bureau of Labor Statistics commissioner following a disappointing jobs report.
The poll, conducted Aug. 9–11 among 1,635 adults, has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
