President Trump on Friday renewed his push for a special prosecutor to be named to examine allegations of fraud in the 2020 presidential election. Posting on Truth Social, Trump reiterated unproven claims that the election had been rigged and demanded a new investigation.

He also compared his own record on immigration to that of President Biden, asserting that illegal border crossings were nearly nonexistent during his presidency, in contrast to the large number of migrants reportedly crossing under the current administration.

“Biden was grossly incompetent, and the 2020 election was a total FRAUD! The evidence is MASSIVE and OVERWHELMING,” Trump wrote. “A Special Prosecutor must be appointed. This cannot be allowed to happen again in the United States of America! Let the work begin!”

Despite these assertions, there remains no evidence of widespread fraud in the 2020 election. Multiple court challenges filed by Trump’s legal team and allies in the aftermath were dismissed, including by judges appointed by Republican presidents. In states such as Georgia, officials conducted recounts and audits that reaffirmed the integrity of the results.

Trump lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden, but continued to claim for months that the outcome had been manipulated. His ongoing insistence that the election was stolen contributed to the events of January 6, 2021, when a mob of his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to halt the certification of the electoral vote.

In 2023, Trump was indicted by a grand jury in Washington, D.C., over his actions following the election, including efforts to stay in power despite losing. However, those charges were dropped after his victory in the 2024 presidential election.
