Around the beginning of October, spontaneous chants of “F*** Joe Biden” began to break out at sports stadiums in multiple states. The chant might have remained at sports stadiums if not for NBC Sports reporter Kelli Stavast.
As Stavast interviewed NASCAR driver Brandon Brown about winning the Xfinity series at Alabama’s Talladega Superspeedway, the crowd was chanting “F*** Joe Biden” in the background. In what appeared to be an attempt at damage control, Stavast claimed the crowd was chanting “Let’s Go Brandon.”
And with those three words, a new meme was born. In less than two weeks since October 9th, the “Let’s Go Brandon” meme has taken the Internet by storm. It’s now on hats and t-shirts, and there’s even a bestselling song about it with more than 500,000 downloads.
