Behind the Poll

The National School Boards Association (NSBA) recently appealed to the federal government, claiming that public schools were facing “domestic terrorism and hate crimes” from parents who disagree with mask mandates and Critical Race Theory.

Attorney General Merrick Garland responded quickly, promising to “discourage” and prosecute “harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence” against public school staff. Garland said the FBI and U.S. attorneys will be discussing “strategies for addressing threats.”

The FBI will now be used to silence parents and suppress First Amendment rights. Rhode Island mother Nicole Solas said Garland’s “mobilization of [the] FBI against parents is consistent with the complete weaponization of the federal government against ideological opponents.”
