Behind the Poll
Starting in 2021 CBS made a requirement that casts on reality TV shows would have to be at least 50% non-white. This is to ensure that 50% of their casts are Black, Indigenous or People of Color, or BIPOC. The requirement affects shows like “Survivor,” “Big Brother” and “Love Island.”
George Cheeks, president and CEO for the CBS Entertainment Group, said, “The reality TV genre is an area that’s especially underrepresented, and needs to be more inclusive across development, casting, production and all phases of storytelling.”
