Should High Capacity Magazines Be Banned?

Every time there’s a mass shooting, Democrats start calling for a national ban on high capacity magazines. Their thinking is that mass shootings would not happen, or would be harder to carry out, if guns could not hold more than a limited number of bullets.

In reality, a shooter could easily carry multiple magazines or multiple guns. Or he could simply acquire high capacity magazines on the black market.

So a ban on high capacity magazines would do nothing to stop mass shootings while creating more red tape for law-abiding gun owners. Not to mention, it would be yet another violation of the Second Amendment.

Currently, California, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maryland, Connecticut, Vermont, Colorado, and D.C. all have some form of ban on high capacity magazines.
